But there's something amiss at the retirement home, where people are dying too frequently. Sarah's father and everyone else there is in danger, and Johnny steps in -- but only with the help of his son, JJ. Ed Asner will guest star as Sarah's father.
Saved In Saved, Greg Stillson finds himself at the center of a terrible dilemma -- and the one person he can turn to to find out what really happened is his enemy, Johnny Smith. And the more Johnny learns about the situation, the more he learns that it could be a key to Armageddon.

King is participating in a major charity auction in which he is auctioning off the name and description of a character in a future book. What he is offering is:
"One (and only one) character name in a novel called CELL, which is now in work and which will appear in either 2006 or 2007. Buyer should be aware that CELL is a violent piece of work, which comes complete with zombies set in motion by bad cell phone signals that destroy the human brain. Like cheap whiskey, it's very nasty and extremely satisfying. Character can be male or female, but a buyer who wants to die must in this case be female. In any case, I'll require physical description of auction winner, including any nickname (can be made up, I don't give a rip)."
Here is the final cover for Stephen King: Uncollected and Unpublished. More info about it can be found over at Cemetery Dance.

Robert McCammon's website (www.robertmccammon.com) reports today that they have heard from Frank Darabont on two of his upcoming projects, adaptations of McCammon's MINE and King's The Mist:
"I came close to getting MINE into production this year, but it was a near-miss. For those who may not know, getting a movie greenlit for production is like having the planets align---countless factors all have to come together at the right moment for anything to happen. I remain committed to making MINE, and am currently in a search for the actresses to play the lead roles of Laura and Mary. I'm hoping to get the movie before the cameras at some point in 2006, although it might be later that year rather than earlier. That's because circumstance and opportunity (the planets aligning) might dictate that I direct my adaptation of Stephen King's great horror novella, The Mist, first. If so, I will likely start shooting The Mist this coming December, '05."
--Frank Darabont, 08/03/05

As reported earlier Taurus Entertainment are making Creepshow 3. I contacted them to learn more about the movie and was told that Taurus Entertainment is the owner of the original Creepshow but that Creepshow 3 won't have any stories based on King's work. However contractually they can say Based of the Movie by Stephen King in their marketing. Sounds like they are trying to profit on King's name if you ask me...

Here is an article about King's appearance at the Maple Street School and an interview with King by John Irving.
According to the message board on the official King site King's next public appearance will be at the New Yorker Festival in NYC which will be held 9/23 - 9/25
At the reading at Maple Street School on Friday evening King read from his upcoming novel Lisey's Story.
King described his novel-in-progress as "a love story, with monsters ... some of them human."
He also gave the audience a disclaimer. "This sort of thing might come back to you tonight," King said, "when it's dark, and you're alone, and there's no one around to hear you scream."
The reading did not disappoint.
The audience heard a story about a man remembering one of the traumatic experiences of his youth. The fictional boy watched his older brother going mad, "snarling like a dog" with a face like "a Halloween mask."
Here is an interesting article about a live run-through done last month for the King-Mellencamp collaboration The Ghost Brothers of Darkland County:
Collaboration reaches for Broadway
A long-awaited collaboration between Stephen King and John Mellencamp is moving closer to production.
In May, actors participated in an initial read-through of the "dramatic musical" that features a story by King and songs by Mellencamp.
Broadway is the hoped-for destination for "The Ghost Brothers of Darkland County," but Mellencamp advises patience.
"If we're lucky, a year from now we'll be in Chicago or Miami putting the thing together," he says, referring to a theatrical debut that customarily precedes a move to New York.
The singer clearly liked what he saw and heard during the read-through.
"It was the most exciting thing I've done professionally in probably 25 years," Mellencamp says. "It was so much fun to see those characters come to life and hear those songs being sung."
The story features two quarreling brothers from Mississippi, their father and the ghosts of two uncles who couldn't resolve their differences before meeting a tragic end.
Mellencamp has written 17 songs in the acoustic blues style heard on his 2003 album, "Trouble No More." When "Ghost Brothers" makes it to the stage, Mellencamp says, his band will play the music from the orchestra pit.
King and Mellencamp have been working on the project since 2000.
The rock star says he's enjoyed forging a give-and-take relationship with the author of "The Stand," "The Shawshank Redemption" and "Carrie."
He also admits to having little success when suggesting rewrites to King.
"He would say, 'I'm the writer, you're the songwriter. Shut up,' " Mellencamp says with a laugh.
Recalling doubts about a specific scene, Mellencamp says the read-through revealed King's accurate instincts.
"It was so sweet and so great," the Seymour native says. "Steve was sitting right in front of me, and he turned back to say, 'Not going to work, eh?' "

Here is an update about The Ghost Brothers of Darkland County:
After a busy summer apart, rocker John Mellencamp and author Stephen King plan to plow forward with their stage musical later this year.
The two have been working on The Ghost Brothers of Darkland County for several years. They recently held a read-through in New York City, which Mellencamp called the most exciting thing that I have done in my career since somebody called me up in the early '80s and said I had a No. 1 album.
But changes will have to wait until fall.
I've got to do these shows this summer (and) Steve is finishing a book, says Mellencamp, who's written more than 20 songs for the musical. We're going to reconvene in the fall, make some changes and make it our job until we see it on the stage.
Today you can get a copy of season 3 of The Dead Zone from Amazon.com.

Today I spoke with the nice people over at Maple Street School where An Evening with Stephen King will take place on June 24. They told me that it hasn't been decided what King will read yet and unfortunately there is no plans to record the event. They also told me that since it is a community event and they want to be sure local fans can attend, they are selling tickets on a first-come, first-served basis at the school and at the Northshire Bookstore. If they have any tickets left 48 hours before the performance they will contact anyone who showed interest from afar and allow them to purchase tickets with a credit card.
King will be available for Q&A but will be leaving immediately following the reading.
King's latest column is now online. It's called My Summer Hit List and you can read it here.
Many of you have been asking me if I know anything about the limited edition of Transgressions and I have been sending mail after mail to the publisher to find out what's up with it. Then today I finally got a reply. It's not much but the told me that the orders for the book has outnumbered the actual number of copies done and that the decision about which stores that will get the book will be made high up in their sales department shortly.
I hope to get more info soon and when I do I'm putting it right here on the site for you to read.
