Pet Sematary Coming Back To Life?

Deadline reports that Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch will bring Pet Sematary back to life.

Paramount Pictures has found the filmmakers who’ll bring back to life Pet Sematary, a new version of the Stephen King bestselling novel that was first brought to the screen in a creepy 1989 movie directed by Mary Lambert. Several filmmakers tried for the job, but Paramount is making a deal with Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch, the team that directed the 2014 thriller Starry Eyes. The duo wrote and directed that film, and they are taking the reins for the tragic saga of the Creed family.

Script is y Jeff Buhler and the film is being produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian and Steven Schneider, with Alexandra Loewy exec producing.

Indian Version Of IT

Did you know that there is an Indian version of IT? Well back in 1998 there was a TV show called WOH based on King’s book shown in India. The show had 52 episodes (each about 20 min long) and here is their version of Georgie’s Death Scene.

Here's an interview with the cast and creators of Castle Rock.

Instead of playing a killer clown as he did in It, this time around Skarsgård portrays a prisoner at Shawshank, who is directly connected with André Holland’s Henry Deaver, a death-row attorney. Henry, the son of Sissy Spacek’s Ruth, returns to Castle Rock in order to work on a case involving a young boy and finds himself recounting things about his past that he previously let go of. Lynskey plays a real estate agent named Molly Strand, who tries to stay optimistic about selling houses in the clearly cursed town, even though she has a hard time interacting with people.

It’s a good movie and Netflix has one more good King adaptation on their list now. Hopefully this will open up even more being done in the future.

On October 24th Joe Hill’s new book Strange Weather is released. I’ve read it and believe me, it’s a good one.

Josh Boone On The Stand

Hi, Josh Boone here. I happened to come across this and wanted to say that I never wrote a draft of The Stand with anything but the ending from the book. You are referring to a draft that preceded me, which I actively worked to ensure never got made because it was in no way an adaptation of the book, just fan fiction. I am still working on The Stand and will be making it next as soon as New Mutants opens in April as a limited series. I've been working on it for four years and I promise you it will be a faithful adaptation of the book with an incredible cast.

Updated Plot Description Of The Outsider

Here is an updated plot description of The Outsider, Out June 5th.

An unspeakable crime. A confounding investigation. At a time when the King brand has never been stronger, he has delivered one of his most unsettling and compulsively readable stories. An eleven-year-old boy’s violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City’s most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.

As the investigation expands and horrifying answers begin to emerge, King’s propulsive story kicks into high gear, generating strong tension and almost unbearable suspense. Terry Maitland seems like a nice guy, but is he wearing another face? When the answer comes, it will shock you as only Stephen King can.

Mr Mercedes Renewed For A Second Season

AT&T's Audience Network announced today that there will be a second season of Mr Mercedes. Filming will begin in Febrary 2018 and have it's premiere launching later in the year.

Press Release: EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Oct. 10, 2017 – Leading up to the highly anticipated season finale tomorrow, Oct. 11 at 8pm ET/PT, AUDIENCE Network is pleased to announce that it has picked up this year’s break out show, “Mr. Mercedes,” for a second season. Production for the 10 one-hour episodes is scheduled to begin in February of 2018 in Charleston, South Carolina with the premiere launching later in the year. The series is produced by Sonar Entertainment.

Returning for the second season will be television veterans David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies, Ally McBeal) to write the script and Jack Bender (Lost, Under the Dome) as director. King, Kelley and Bender will also continue to serve as executive producers, along with Dennis Lehane, who will also write. The second season will be based on King’s best-selling Bill Hodges Trilogy, which includes, “Mr. Mercedes,” “Finders Keepers” and “End of Watch.”

“I’m excited and thrilled,” said Kelley. “Stephen King, Dennis Lehane, Jack Bender, Brendan Gleeson…this is a special team indeed.”

“Mr. Mercedes is Stephen King writing about the monsters inside his characters rather than outside,” said Bender. “We were extremely fortunate to attract an amazing cast, led by Brendan Gleeson and Harry Treadaway, to bring these flawed, complex colorful characters to life. Season 1 of “Mr. Mercedes” followed a demented killer Brady Hartsfield (Harry Treadaway) who taunts a retired police detective Bill Hodges (Brendan Gleeson) with a series of lurid letters and emails, forcing the ex-cop to undertake a private, and potentially felonious, crusade to bring the killer to justice before he is able to strike again.

Stephen King describes “Mr. Mercedes” as his first hard-boiled detective tale. The novel was published by Scribner in June 2014 and became an immediate No. 1 New York Times Bestseller upon its release. Shortly after the release of the novel, King announced that “Mr. Mercedes” was the first of a projected trilogy. The second novel, “Finders Keepers,” was published by Scribner in June 2015, and the third novel, “End of Watch,” was published by Scribner in June 2016.

Lilja Meets Stephen & Owen King 2017

It's September 26, 2017. The day Stephen and Owen's book, Sleeping Beauties, is released. It's also the day they kick off their promotion tour for the book in New York. And I'm there, right in New York ready to see The King’s.




The day starts early as I’m jetlagged and wakes up at 3AM. I make the most of the time I have in New York though so after a shower and breakfast I head down to the studio where they are filming Good Morning American. Since I only found out that Stephen and Owen would be guests on the show the day before all the tickets are gone. I’m not too bummed out about that though since their segment will only be a couple of minutes and the rest of the 2 hour show isn’t that interesting to be honest. I find it more fun to stand outside with a lot of other fans and professional photographers watching the stars come and go. This particular day Harrison Ford and Kate Winslet are also guests and a lot of their fans are also present.

The evening’s event (and the reason I’m here) starts at 7PM but people are starting to line up hours in advance outside St. Ann’s and the Holy Trinity Church. The church didn’t have assigned seating so it's first come first served. So, if you want front row seats you need to be there early. And normally I would have been there really early but not this time. Why? Well, I had the good fortune to be granted a visit backstage to say "Hi" to Stephen and Owen. And what is a front row seat compared to that? Right, nothing.

So I arrive around 6:15 and 6:30 I'm let in through the side door of this old church to meet Stephen King. I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous but once I shake his hand that all falls away. He is such a nice man, asking me how I like New York and if I'm jetlagged. We chat a bit and then I ask if he would sign my copy of Sleeping Beauties that I brought (the ones included in the event weren’t being distributed until after the event). He didn't mind and dedicated it to me and then said "I'll get Owen to sign it as well". And Owen didn't just sign it, he actually drew a moth in the book, how cool is that?

While Owen is doing this I noticed another familiar face. Peter Straub who with Stephen wrote The Talisman and Black House is sitting right beside Owen. And I can't resist introducing myself (Peter and I have spoken through emails earlier) and shake his hand. Then Stephen King takes a photo of me and Peter Straub. How cool is that? And after that he also takes a photo of me and Owen (I really put Stephen to work). After that it's time for the Kings to get ready for the reading and me to move into the church.

When I arrive the seats in the front half of the church are all taken but I noticed a lot of people are sitting up on the balcony so I go up there and manage to find a seat in the front row, just to the left of some electrical equipment (part of the sound system I think) but who cares. The seat is perfect and I have a great view over where Stephen and Owen sit.

The event is introduced by Emma Straub (who also introduced her father, the audience cheered) and then the Kings enter the stage a few minutes after 7. The simplicity of the stage is very promising. It's just the Kings in two chairs and two large posters of the book cover. What's about to happen is all going to have to be done by Stephen and Owen. And they deliver, man do they deliver.

Each of them read a part from the book, Owen about the fox and Stephen about a meeting the men have at a bar. And while they read it struck me how good they are at reading out loud. Not everyone pulls that of but both Stephen and Owen could have a career narrating books if they ever get tired of writing them.

They have each prepared a few questions for each other without the other one knowing the questions beforehand. This generates an interesting and spontaneous discussion between the two of them. The questions include "What was it like to collaborate on the book?", Owen tells how he used to freeze his GI Joes and how they together created a GI Joe. Stephen asked Owen to tell us what child labor he was forced to do as a kid and Owen told us how he recorded books for his father when he was young. Owen then asked Stephen how he manages to keep all his characters different from each other and not repeating them.

The event ended with pre sent in questions from the audience. Do they still doubt themselves even though they are now successful? Did they ask their wives for input on the female characters in Sleeping Beauties (King told a great story about his mother in law) and who they think would be best to play Stephen in a movie about him. Owen said Bill Hader from SNL.

With that the event was over. The Kings left the stage and the rest of us (pretty warm and sweaty since the church was hotter than a sauna) started queuing for our book. You gave the person giving out books the wristband you got when you entered the church and in return you got a book. Once outside you could hear spontaneous cheers when someone opened their book and found two signatures inside. I opened mine and was happy to see that I had gotten a signed copy of the book.

Later that night as I was in a cab on my way back to my hotel I tried to summarize the evening in my head but it was hard to grasp everything that had happened. Had I really shook Stephen, Owen and Peter's hands? And gotten my photo taken with them (most of the photos taken by Stephen himself)? Yes I had. All I had to do was pick up my phone and the photos were there. And the books, one personalized by Stephen and Owen and the other one signed by them. It was true, it had happened and it had been a truly great evening.

Another thing that was really great about the evening was that I got to shake Marsha DeFilippo's hand. She is Stephen's assistant that has endured me for over 20 years. She has supported me and helped me more than I can even describe in words. This evening I got the shake her hand and say thanks. That meant a lot to me! Thanks again Marsha!

Unconfirmed News About The Outsider

Some in the audience at Stephen & Owen's stop in Milwaukee reported that Stephen revealed that he has a new book done that's to be released in June called The Outsider. Stephen said it was about some southwest gentleman committing some murders. He also said there would be a character we would recognize...

Please note that this (specially the release date) is unconfirmed news.

Castle Rock Filming In A Cemetery

Castle Rock is filming in a cemetery next week.

It may have been inevitable that the production crew shooting a Stephen King-inspired online series would want to film in a cemetery.

And that’s exactly what will happen one day next week, when those involved in “Castle Rock” set up shop in Central Cemetery to shoot a funeral scene.

My Review Of Gerald's Game

Here is my review of Gerald's Game that premiers today on Netflix.

Gerald’s Game, has for a long time, been ”the unfilmable Stephen King book”. Then back in 2014 Mike Flanagan got attached to it. The years came and went and no film appeared. Until now. Three years after it was first announced Mike Flanagan has filmed the unfilmable book. And how did he do? I’m happy to say that he did great!

The Mist Canceled After 1 Season

The Mist has been canceled after just one season. Spike confirmed to Deadline that it has canceled its horror series based on a novella by Stephen King from the early 1980s after one season.

The Mist, which marked Spike’s first original scripted series, was leftover from the old regime and programming strategy at the network, which will be rebranded as Paramount Network in January. Asked in March whether The Mist could continue on the Paramount Network, Kevin Kay, president of Spike/Paramount Network, TV Land and CMT, said, “in success, if this season on Spike goes well, we would pick it up for next year, and Season 2 will be on Paramount. We think it’s got a lot of potential.”

Stephen & Owen Reading In New York

Today was the first reading on Stephen and Owen's tour to promote Sleeping Beauties and while I will write a longer article about it I wanted to tell you about some things that happened during the event.


Stephen and Owen each read a part from Sleeping Beauties and then asked eachother questions. The event then ended with questions for the audience. Nothing was revealed about the next book.

I also got a chance of saying "Hi" to Stephen and Owen before the event.


And special guest Peter Straub was in the audience...and no, that dosn't mean they are working on The Talisman 3.

Oh and I did get a signed copy of the book.

Today is the release day for Sleeping Beauties by Stephen and Owen King. It’s also the start of their tour to promote the book.

I got a chance to talk to Owen about the book and how he and Stephen wrote it. You can see what he had to say here.

The genesis was just a one sentence pitch that I made to my dad: "What if all the women in the world fell asleep?" I wanted him to take the idea and run with it. The notion struck me as one that you could make a hell of a disturbing meal out of, and that's kind of his specialty, whereas most of my own writing to that point had been pretty mainstream. He was very insistent that I should write it, though. Eventually, we compromised and wrote it together.

N Being Filmed as 8

According to Bloody Discusting King's story N will be turned into a TV series called 8. Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation helmer David F Sandberg is directing the pilot while Andrew Barrer & Gabe Ferrari are writing the script.

“N”, now “8”, takes place in Maine where a group of eight imposing stones contains an ancient evil so terrifying that it can drive visitors mad. In the summer of 1992, three teenagers escaped the malicious force, and are confronted 25 years later.
