Castle Rock Season 2 Filming In March

Posted: January 7, 2019, 09:11
_
Bloody Disgusting reports that season 2 of Castle Rock starts filming in March.

It was already announced that Hulu had ordered a second season of the J.J. Abrams-produced“Castle Rock“, their series inspired by the Stephen King‘s Universe. We haven’t heard much since the announcement, but Production Weekly is reporting that Season 2 will go into production this coming March in Central Massachusetts. Michael Uppendahl (“Fargo”, “Legion”, “Fear the Walking Dead”, “American Horror Story”) and Dan Attias (Silver Bullet, “The Americans”) are listed as directors, although this has yet to be confirmed.

At this time, we don’t yet know what the Season 2 approach will be, but we have been told that “Castle Rock” is an anthology series, meaning it won’t continue Season 1’s story.

They also spoke to co-creator Sam Shaw at Comic-Con. Head over to their site for more info on that.

Farwell 2018 & Welcome 2019

Posted: December 31, 2018, 14:00
_
2018 is about to end and what year it has been. We got no less than two new King books during the year. Both The Outsider and Elevation are really good books. We also got new seasons of Castle Rock (season 1) and Mr Mercedes (season 2) and a new Children of the Corn movie that was just as bad as expected. It was all in all a very good year to be a King fan.

On a more personal level, I got to see the book Shining in the Dark which I edited (originally just intended for the American market) spread across the world. The year began with a promotional tour to Bulgaria where the book was released in 2017. The tour was followed by the book being release in the US, Italy, Czech Republic, Germany, Sweden and England. The Swedish edition was released as a Kickstarter and I got the chance to be involved in every step of developing the book, which was a fantastic experience.

I also got the chance to tour Sweden and talk about King. I did a total of 10 lectures on King in 10 different cities and I absolutely loved meeting King fans all around Sweden.

Looking forward to 2019 I will get the chance to see Shining in the Dark released in Serbia as well as an audio book in both the USA and UK by Simon & Schuster Audio and Hodder & Stoughton. The book will also be released in some other editions but those I can’t reveal just yet. I’m also booked to do at least 3 more lecture about King in three different cities in Sweden. Hopefully more dates and cities will be added to that list and I really look forward to meeting new King fans!

King himself hasn’t announced what’s coming in 2019 yet but I bet there will be at least one book. We’ll also see both the new version of Pet Sematary and the second IT movie in theatres. And a few surprises I’m sure…

I want to end 2018 by thanking all of you who have followed me here on Lilja’s Library during the year. I love talking to you all and if not for you, 2018 wouldn’t have been as good as it was!

Thanks & A Happy New Year to you all!

Once again NECA has created versions of Pennywise that takes your breath away.

The first one is called Ultimate Well House Pennywise (Release Date: Q1 2019).

From the acclaimed 2017 horror film IT, drawn from the pages of Stephen King’s original novel, NECA presents Pennywise the Dancing Clown!

Based on Bill Skarsgård’s portrayal of the nightmare-inducing clown, this 7” scale figure has been painstakingly detailed to be as accurate to Pennywise’s ornate costume as possible. To recreate even more of the most terrifying scenes from the movie, this version features 4 all-new head sculpts, a fencepost that can be inserted into one of the heads, a new monster right hand, new grabbing hands, and an additional new left hand.

This edition comes in collector-friendly deluxe window box packaging with opening flap.

The second is called Dancing Clown Pennywise (Release Date: Q2 2019).

From the acclaimed 2017 horror film IT, drawn from the pages of Stephen King’s original novel, NECA presents Pennywise: The Dancing Clown!

Footage From IT Part 2

Posted: December 10, 2018, 22:20
_
A group of fans at CCXP in Brazil were lucky enough to see some new footage from the second IT movie and here is a report about what they saw.

"Thankfully, they did share a behind-the-scenes sizzle reel, which looked like the type of video a studio would share with promotional partners to get them excited about the sequel. In the video, we saw director Andy Muschietti talk about what he hopes to accomplish with the anticipated sequel, saying it will be serious, more intense, and have scarier moments. The video also showed some pre-production artwork, including the different departments working on the film.

"Another part of the video showed new cast members Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, Bill Hader, and others talking about what the film is about. There wasn’t much footage from the film, but we did see a shot of the cast together walking across a bridge.

"My favorite part, however, was some video from the very first table read. While we didn’t get to see the cast reading any lines, the video showed this massive table with every cast member listed getting ready to read the script."

Interview With Bill Thompson pt. 2

Here is the second part of Jason Sechrest's interview with Bill Thomspon (you can read the first part here).

It’s interesting to hear what Thompson said about The Blue Air Compressor (now released in Shining in the Dark) back in 1977.

The Blue Air Compressor - It’s precious author talk for one thing and also distasteful. It doesn’t come close to being a take-off of horror fiction. Let’s keep it in the drawer.

Elevation Is Out! What's Next?

Posted: October 31, 2018, 23:47
_
Someone asked what's next now that Elevation is out and the answer from the moderator of King's official board was this exciting news:

Yes, my understanding is that it's planned for a release in (US) autumn 2019. I can't reveal the title or any other details at this time, though, as no official announcement has been made. The book is already written and may have gone through the final edits--that part I don't have up-to-date information about.

How excited are you about a new King book in the fall of 2019? Comment bellow!

Bill Haber’s Ostar Productions (Valor) will exec produce.

It was earlier reported that it would be a feature film Tate Taylor.

The contest is over and three winners (who will each get a copy of the UK edition of Elevation) has been selected. Before I reveal who they are I want to thank you all for telling me how you found Lilja’s Library. Some did it many years ago and others just days ago but I’m so happy and proud that you all tune in to read what I write. Thanks!

And now the winners… Rolf Nilsson, Roselyn Levita and Stephen Edwards. Congratulations you will each get a copy of the UK edition of Elevation.

My thoughts on Elevation

_
Here are my thoughts on Elevation.

I really like Elevation. It’s a sad book but to be honest, that is how I want my books, at least sometime. It makes them interesting when everything isn’t always fixed and put right. It’s the way life is. Sometime life hits you where it hurts and this time it happens in King’s story.

And the fact that King himself narrates the audio book is the icing on the cake.

The Ghost Brothers Will Rise Again

Posted: October 24, 2018, 15:55
_

A revised version of Stephen King and John Mellencamp’s Ghost Brothers of Darkland County will be available for stock and amateur licensing in 2019.

Broadway Licensing is working with Stephen King and John Mellencamp to develop a new version of their musical Ghost Brothers of Darkland County for worldwide licensing, which will be made available in 2019.

The Gothic southern musical, which premiered in 2012 at Atlanta's Alliance Theatre, explores a decades-old tragedy that haunts the population of a small town. Grammy winner Mellencamp (“Pink Houses,” “Jack and Diane,” “Small Town”) penned the score, while Carrie, Misery, and The Shining novelist King wrote the book.

A studio album of Ghost Brothers of Darkland County, recorded in 2010, was released from Hear Records/Concord Records Group. The musical also played a limited concert tour.

“This is terrific news. I loved working with John Mellencamp, and the ghostly result is one of my most proud accomplishments,” King said in a statement.

Mellencamp added, “When Steve and I decided to mount a musical… neither of us knew what we were doing. We learned on the job. I have never had so much fun or laughed so hard in my life.”
