More Info About If You Bleed

Posted: May 14, 2019, 08:33
_
Some additional information has appeared on the King 2020 book, If you bleed . Some sources say King said the title was If it bleeds from the words "If it bleeds it". I guess we have to wait and see what the right title is.

I also hear that the king said that the story is about a news anchor / journalist who is also a kind of vampire feed on human suffering when he chases his stories.

As always when many people hear the same thing, they will perceive it differently and therefore the information is a little fuzzy. Hopefully we will soon have more accurate info.

Oh, and I also heard that the king said he was thinking of a sequel to Salem's Lot .

Greg Yaitanes Talks Castle Rock

Posted: May 3, 2019, 09:19
_
Greg Yaitanes, who directed the episode The Queen for season 1 of Castle Rock is back for season 2, now in production. Yaitanes is directing the premiere and one more episode.

“We wanted to evolve the look on a visual level, and move [more] and be with characters more,” Yaitanes told the Indiewire. “One of the things that worked well with ‘The Queen’ was point of view. That episode had a strong point of view of character, so [we’re] bringing that into Annie’s story and giving the show […] more urgency this year, more tension. We’re taking the things that worked well in Season 1 and taking them up a level. We’re seeing more of Castle Rock than we did last year. It’s set back in the town. We’re going back to familiar places, and new places the story didn’t touch on.”

No premier date has been set yet.

In this interview with EW Richard Chizmar talks about Gwendy's Magic Feather. One question hinted on what King himself is working on...

But he didn’t want to write it himself?
He said, “I’m going to be spending the foreseeable future with Holly Gibney [a character in his Mr. Mercedes novels and The Outsider who is a major character in his newest book], but you should write it.”

Gwendy's Magic Feather
Richard Chizmar

Something evil has swept into the small western Maine town of Castle Rock on the heels of the latest winter storm. Sheriff Norris Ridgewick and his team are desperately searching for two missing girls, but time is running out to bring them home alive.

In Washington D.C., thirty-seven-year-old Gwendy Peterson couldn't be more different from the self-conscious teenaged girl who once spent a summer running up Castle Rock's Suicide Stairs. That same summer, she was entrusted—or some might say cursed—with the extraordinary button box by Richard Farris, the mysterious stranger in the black suit. The seductive and powerful box offered Gwendy small gifts in exchange for its care and feeding until Farris eventually returned, promising
Gwendy she'd never see the box again.

One day, though, the button box shows up without warning-and without Richard Farris to explain why, or what she's supposed to do with it. The mysterious reappearance of the box, along with the troubling disappearances in Castle Rock, leads Gwendy home again...where she just might be able to help rescue the missing girls and stop a madman before he does something ghastly.

From New York Times bestseller Richard Chizmar comes Gwendy's Magic Feather, a breathtaking novel that asks whether our lives are controlled by fate or the choices we make-and what price we might have to pay for those choices when we reach for the things we most desire. Prepare to return again to Stephen King's Castle Rock, the sleepy little town built on a bedrock of deep, dark secrets, which is about to awaken from its quiet slumber once more.

Paul Sparks Replace Garrett Hedlund As Ace

Posted: April 12, 2019, 08:33
_
Deadline reports that Paul Sparks will replace Garrett Hedlund as Ace Merrill in season 2 of Castle Rock.

Hulu is recasting one of the leads opposite Lizzy Caplan in the second season of Castle Rock. Paul Sparks (Boardwalk Empire, House of Cards) has been tapped to play John “Ace” Merrill, Castle Rock’s legendary bully, in the psychological horror series from J.J. Abrams and Stephen King. Sparks replaces Garrett Hedlund, who was originally cast in the role.

I hear the recasting was a creative decision related to the character of Ace, who is taking over his uncle Pop’s (Tim Robbins) businesses and threatening a fragile peace with nearby Jerusalem’s Lot. It was made after Hedlund had filmed a handful of scenes. They will now be reshot.

Casting News For Creepshow

_
Horror streaming service Shudder announced new castings for its anthology series Creepshow. Breaking Bad’s Giancarlo Esposito, Saw’s Tobin Bell and the original Creepshow film, Adrienne Barbeau will all star in King’s Gray Matter. The episode will be directed Greg Nicotero.

“I feel I’m in great company getting the opportunity to direct a story written by Steve. Between Salem’s Lot, Pet Sematary and The Stand, I’ve always found his stories rich in relatable characters forced into supernatural situations beyond their control—the everyday person’s primal fears. To visualize ‘Gray Matter’ for Creepshow with the help of Adrienne, Giancarlo and Tobin was about as good as it gets for a horror fan from Pittsburgh!”

Greg Nicotero

“I was thrilled when Greg asked me to join the Creepshow world once again. And then working with Tobin and Giancarlo, with Greg as our director, well, that was the icing on the cake — no, not that cake. Oh, you know what I mean.”

Clip From IT: Chapter 2

_
/Film has seen a clip from IT: Chapter 2 at CinemaCon 2019 in Las Vegas and here is what they said about it.

It: Chapter 2: The It Chapter 2 footage shown at CinemaCon wasn’t a trailer, but rather a scene that gave way to a quick sizzle reel. The scene in question is lifted directly from Stephen King’s book. The adult Bev Marsh (Jessica Chastain) returns to her childhood home in Derry, looking for her father. Instead, she encounters an old woman named Mrs. Kersh now living in the house. Mrs. Kersh sadly informs Bev that her father passed away, and then invites Bev into her house.

Bev obliges. Once inside, she finds the old poem on the postcard Ben sent her in the first film. And then things start to get creepy. “You know what they say about Derry,” says Mrs. Kersh. “No one who dies here never really dies.” She fixes Bev with a scary, blank stare, and sure enough, Pennywise soon rears his ugly head.

First Clip From Doctor Sleep

/Film has seen a clip from Doctor Sleep at CinemaCon 2019 in Las Vegas and here is what they said about it.

Doctor Sleep: We got a glimpse behind the scenes, with Ewan McGregor (sporting a beard as the grown-up Danny) explaining that the film directly addresses his character’s traumatic stay at the Overlook Hotel. Specifically: “How does he deal with that terrible experience from his childhood?” Naturally, the presentation also noted that Stephen King is very involved in the production.

The sneak peek itself featured snippets of intriguing footage. A car driving through the woods in the beginning was clearly reminiscent of the opening sequence from The Shining. A group of people gathered around a campfire – possibly the villains of the film, a nomadic group of people with powerful psychic abilities who prey on those who can “shine.” We also see Danny touch hands with a young girl (possibly Abra Stone, a psychic kid played by Kyliegh Curran). Then there’s a shot of a woman walking with a needle hidden behind her back. Could this be Rose the Hat (Rebecca Ferguson), the main villain of the film?

Finally, the kicker: Danny stands in a filthy bathroom and “redrum” is scratched into the mirror.

King talks Pet Sematary in this interview with EW.

My daughter’s cat died. And we buried it in the pet cemetery. That was Smucky. She made a little cross that said “Smucky — he was obedient.” And I mean, he was a cat. [Laughs] He wasn’t f—ing obedient! But she loved that cat.

Pet Sematary Prequel?

Posted: March 27, 2019, 10:38

Could this be the beginning of a new franchise? Well, the question was put to Pet Sematary producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura recently who answered "How about a prequel?"

“I generally don’t start thinking about [sequels] until they’re a success, [but]I think if there’s anything here, there’s a prequel. I think if you look at the book, we didn’t cover all that stuff that happens before the Creed family moves in.”
