Are You Going To The Signings in Nov? Read This!

All of you that are planning to go to any of the signings in November; keep your eyes open today as the details will be released. The moderator of King’s board did reveal some general info this weekend though that you might find interesting.

First, not all events are going to be straight book signings but that information will be given on Monday for each venue.

This probably means King will do a reading at one or more stops and if you can, don’t miss this. I have been to two and King is a natural on stage!

Only REVIVAL will be allowed for signing at the events that are book signings, so it would not be possible to get any other book or other memorabilia signed in its place.

This is always the case when King do a signing but at those I have been to there has always been people brining other books. Some have gotten them signed and some hasn’t. Not sure why though.

Additionally, book signings are limited to two hours so events will be ticketed and only those who have a ticket will be able to have their copy of REVIVAL signed.

This means BE ON YOUR TOES! My guess is that we’ll find out today how to get tickets and as you see you are going to need them to get your book signed. I’m not sure how many books King can sign in two hours but my guess would be around 600 (think he did 610 in France in two hours) and I can bet you that there will be more than 600 that wants to attend.

SO, KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN AND IF YOU WANT TO GO! GET A TICKET AS SOON AS THEY ARE RELEASED. Sorry for the caps but this is really important if you want to go.

Walter Simonson’s Lawnmower Man

Now you can buy Walter Simonson’s Lawnmower Man: Artist’s Edition Portfolio and check out his wonderful adaptation of King's story.

I drew a 21 page adaptation of Stephen King's short story, The Lawnmower Man in 1981. I did the pictures; King wrote the words. I put us in that order because the story was done 'Marvel-style'. I drew the pencils from the prose short story, the pages were sent to King, and he wrote the words from the art. I never dealt directly with King myself (regretfully ), but he did an outstanding job, adding just enough to the visualization of the story to accommodate the tale's new format. I thought the entire enterprise worked extremely well.

Stand Update

The Collider recently spoke to Josh Boone about The Stand and here are some things he said.

I finished writing the script maybe a month ago. Stephen [King] absolutely loved it. It’s, I think, the first script ever approved by him. [It'll be] a single version movie of The Stand. Three hours. It hews very closely to the novel.

And about when it might start shooting...

It takes a long time to prep a film like that. Six to eight months. I don’t imagine we would shoot the movie until next Spring at the earliest. And we’re still early in the process. I’m still meeting actors and having budget meetings and all that.

Read the full interview here.

I also spoke to Josh today and he confirmed that the rumor that Matthew McConaughey has been offered the key role of Randall Flagg is incorrect.

More on The Things They Left Behind

_
More info about The Things They Left Behind:

Published as part of the collection Transgressions: Volume Two, King’s original tale follows a 9/11 survivor plagued by guilt. One day, objects belonging to his deceased former co-workers start showing up at his house. Unable to get rid of him, he enlists the help of his neighbor to return them to the families of the dead.

CBS’ adaptation seems to retain the same basic premise, as TV Line describes The Things They Left Behind as a supernatural procedural drama about “an unlikely pair of investigators carrying out the unfinished business of the dead.”

The network has given a put pilot commitment to The Things They Left Behind, meaning they’ll owe producer Warner Bros. TV a lot of money if the pilot never airs. In other words, it’s all but guaranteed that CBS will pick up the series.

In addition to writing the script, Grahame-Smith will executive produce along with David Katzenberg, Greg Berlanti, and Sarah Schechter. TV vet Berlanti’s credits include The CW’s Arrow and The Flash. Additionally, it was announced last week that he was developing a Supergirl TV series.

The Things They Left Behind Lands on CBS

Looks like CBS will be the channel who gives us The Things They Left Behind. Personally I had preferred another, more reviewer friendly channel, but this is where it landed.

In a competitive situation, CBS has landed The Things They Left Behind, a supernatural procedural drama based on Stephen King’s short story, from Seth Grahame-Smith, and Greg Berlanti. The project, produced by Warner Bros. TV and Berlanti’s studio-based Berlanti Prods., has received a put pilot from the network, which has had success with another drama adaptation of a work by King, summer series Under The Dome. Written by Grahame-Smith, The Things They Left Behind centers on an unlikely pair of investigators carrying out the unfinished business of the dead. Grahame-Smith and his producing partner David Katzenberg will executive produce through their KatzSmith banner, along with Berlanti Prods.’ Berlanti and Sarah Schechter.

What do you think, will this be something you'll be watching?

With your hosts Hans Lilja of Lilja's Library and Lou Sytsma.

Welcome to Episode 34 of The Stephen King Podcast!

We're Back! After a summer hiatus we return with a KING Sized Episode and special returning guest - writer and Stephen King expert - Bev Vincent.

We have a lot of Stephen King news covering movies, tv series, stage, and of course books.

Bev joins us to talk about Haven as we talk about our thoughts on the series past seasons and the upcoming Season 5. Bev shares what he did on his summer vacation which included a set visit to Haven.

Then Bev sticks around and we compare notes on the current season of Under The Dome.

Before Bev leaves us, he sets our old school King horror taste buds salivating with his nonspoilery thoughts on King's next book - Revival - which he just finished reading. To say we are left chomping at the bit to get our hands on this is a vast understatement.

We hope you enjoy this episode and, as usual, we want to hear from you.

Book Tour For Revival?

Remember that King said there wouldn’t be a book tour during 2014? Well, that seems to have changed and the moderator of King’s site said yesterday that they would be announcing when and where next week.

We're planning to announce cities and dates the week of August 25th but final details won't come until later in September once they're worked out.

So, keep calm and wait for the announcement. And my guess is that it will only be the US this time but we’ll know for sure next week

The Lazy Way To Read

If anyone here should be to lazy (God forbid) to read King’s latest book here is an option for you. This is a summary of the book that is supposed to give you the plot, characters and anything else you need to know. My question though is who would prefer this version except someone too lazy to read the book and also has a school paper due?

What do you think of this book? Good or useless? And while you’re thinking about it, please send in your photo with Mr Mercedes so that I can add it to all the other fan photos.

Unearthed and Untold, The Path to Pet Sematary

Finally we might soon see what I think will be a great documentary about Pet Sematary:

Unearthed and Untold, The Path to Pet Sematary announcted:

Our documentary will be having its world premiere in the county where it all started: Hancock, Maine. On Saturday September 13 Unearthed & Untold will be playing at the Grand Theater in Ellsworth - one of the primary towns featured in the original film. This event is being billed as a double feature: They will also be showing Pet Sematary just before the documentary!

We will be in attendance as will some local cast and crew from t...he film. If you are in New England or the New England-area please consider coming to the September screening. Tickets may sell quickly, so go to the Grand Theater website to buy now! (grandonline.org)

This is hugely exciting and a real milestone for what has been a long, challenging, and rewarding journey. *To date, NO official distribution plans have been made, though we are working on it. Once we know HOW and WHEN you can see it, of course we will let you know. See you in September!
