King on Cell

“The movie is not totally close to the original screenplay that I wrote but I’ll tell you what, the end of it is so goddamn dark and scary. It’s really kind of a benchmark there.”

King on The Dark Tower

“I was very excited when Ron Howard got involved with that project, His original take on it was the best. He wanted to do the movies — three tentpole movies — interspersed with a number of TV series that covered Roland and his adventures as a young man. It was a brilliant concept, and I’m pretty sure it would have worked. [But] what sometimes happens in Hollywood and in filmmaking is, the financing fell apart, or the studio started to have second thoughts.”

Here are some images of how it COULD look, it's not finished Products, just prototypes. If I do this though I’d probably use a different image… Let me know what you think.

Laura Mennell In Haven

Posted: June 16, 2014, 18:23
Spoiler TV reports that Laura Mennell has been casted in season 5 of Haven.

TVLine has learned exclusively that Laura Mennell, who played the “suggestive” Nina on Syfy’s Alphas, has joined Haven Season 5 in the recurring role of a brilliant (and, well, beautiful) epidemiologist from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention who fears the titular town is on the verge of a deadly viral outbreak.

Mennell’s character is described as “a force to be reckoned with,” as Audrey (played by Emily Rose), Nathan (Lucas Bryant) and Duke (Eric Balfour) quickly will discover. And while Dwight (Adam Copeland) will work overtime to keep hidden Haven’s secrets, the CDC whiz unknowingly uncovers a genetic marker found only in Troubled people. Could that mean a cure is around the corner…?!

A Good Marriage in October

Posted: June 9, 2014, 22:55
Variety reports that A Good Marriage will premier in early October.

Screen Media Films has acquired North American rights to thriller “A Good Marriage,” adapted from Stephen King’s short story from the collection “Full Dark, No Stars.”

King wrote the screenplay, and Peter Askin directed the film, starring Joan Allen, Anthony LaPaglia, Kristen Connolly and Stephen Lang. Screen Media plans to distribute the film in early October — the start of the Halloween season — with a nationwide theatrical release accompanied by a day-and-date VOD platform release.

LaPaglia and Allen portray a married couple, with the wife discovering the horrifying stranger inside her husband while he’s away on a business trip — ending a good marriage.

“I’m delighted that ‘A Good Marriage’ is going to be available to the moviegoing public very soon, and hope we can scare the hell out of millions of people,” King said. “To me, that’s always an exciting prospect.”

The Stand To Be A Three-Hour, R-Rated, Movie

Posted: June 5, 2014, 16:32
Here is a quote from an interview with Josh Boone in Vulture:

So I’m a big Stephen King fan, and I know you’re a gigantic Stephen King fan, so I have to ask about The Stand. You’re directing it. What can you tell me about it?

We’re gonna do one three-hour, R-rated version with an amazing A-list cast across the board. Every single one of those characters will be somebody you recognize and somebody you relate to. And it’s gonna be awesome. I’m really excited. It’s the most exciting thing I’ve ever got to do in my entire life. If 12-year-old me had ever known that one day I’d be doing this, to even just go back and look at that kid, I’d be like, Keep doing what you’re doing! It’s just crazy. I’ve met so many actors over the years, and like, when I met Stephen King, I hugged him with tears in my eyes. He meant that much to me when I was young. I still say everything I learned about writing I learned from Stephen King. I don’t read screenplays. I don’t read screenplay how-to books. It’s always just, establish the character. Establish the character.

Brian K Vaughan has left Under the Dome

Posted: June 3, 2014, 09:30
Brian K Vaughan has stepped down as executive producer/writer for Under the Dome a few months ago, something that seems to have gone unnoticed until now... In an interview with Bleeding Cool Brian had this to say.

RJ: Under The Dome is coming back… what’s your involvement with that show, now? And are you seeking similar roles in other series in the future?

BKV: Yeah, I don’t think this has been reported anywhere, but I actually left my position at Under The Dome a few months ago. It was the great thrill of my life to help adapt one of the best book’s ever from my all-time hero, but I’ve got two very young kids at home who I never got to see last season, so I’m enormously grateful to CBS and Amblin for letting me out of my contract a little early. I’m already missing the cast and crew, but the show remains in the excellent hands of our veteran showrunner Neal Baer, and we were lucky enough to hire some heavy hitting new writers for this season, including none other than Mr. King himself. His first episode is easily the best of the series so far, and helps set the tone for a fucking crazy new direction, so I look forward to getting to watch as a fan with everyone else.

Me Getting Mr Mercedes

Posted: June 2, 2014, 13:34
I would like to try something. This week (Tuesday June 3rd to be exact) King’s new book Mr. Mercedes is released. Some of you will probably get it on Monday and some on Tuesday, maybe some on Wednesday or Thursday. Either way, it’s a big thing when a new King book is released and I’d like to acknowledge that. So, what I’d like you to do is this.

Send me a photo of when you get your copy. No matter if you get it in a store, in the mail or from a friend or from the library (hopefully you’re only loaning it if that’s the case). Take a photo of you and the book (no matter were in the world you are or what edition you get) and then I’ll publish the photos here on Lilja’s Library. It will be fun to see everyone who got a copy. If you want, please include your name and location and I’ll post that as well. It’s also OK to post the photo on Lilja’s Library’s facebook wall and I’ll get it from there if you prefer that.

Please note though that this is not a contest, it’s just for fun. Imagine if we could get a couple of hundred photos? How cool would that be? Who knows maybe even King would check that out… So, spread the word and send the photo. I’ll even go first!

Check out all the entries here

King's Characters Introduce Mr Mercedes

Posted: May 30, 2014, 23:30
Thursday 29 May 2014, marks the official countdown to publication for No. 1 bestselling writer Stephen King’s new novel, MR MERCEDES, which publishes on 3 June 2014, and the launch of an innovative digital content campaign. Hodder & Stoughton publishers have worked with the agency The Upside, which has devised a creative strategy highlighting the fabulous breadth of Stephen King's storytelling. The idea is simple: have some of King’s classic characters come to life to introduce his new book.

Five mini animations of 15” have been created, each featuring a different character from one of King’s celebrated books. Each will reveal more about Mr Mercedes, the eponymous character in King’s memorable new novel. The videos will be released via, in the five days leading up to the publication.

On publication day, 3 June 2014, the animations will be edited and released as one long introduction to the novel, with a fresh scene revealing Mr Mercedes himself to readers.

Check out Danny from The Shining and Carrie from Carrie here.

Lilja's Library: The Number Game #6 (Last One)

Posted: May 26, 2014, 10:54
The 5th part of the contest is done and the 6th AND LAST is upon us. As with last week I want to thank you all for your fun photos. This week, like the previous one a lot of you put a lot of effort in your photos and that is good. The final winners will be picked by their photos so it’s worth putting some extra into it.

Those of you that didn’t win or didn’t send it a photo…do it this week. Don’t postpone it any longer, this is the last week

The right answer this time was Carrie. The number 40 because the book turns 40 this year and Girl because Carrie is a girl.

This time it’s a new riddle and it’s the same thing you need to do. Decide what book I’m looking for and take a photo of yourself with that book and send it to me. The question and more info can be found here.

The 10 entries drawn from the fifth question were sent it by the following people (please make sure you include your name):

The fifth 10 entries:
Bob Irland
Danielle Duffield
Malina Gillooly
James Parker
Henry Gershman
Jessica Rushing
Ron Breznay
Ann Richardson
Luca Gnuva
Hans von Wirth

You 10 don’t need to enter again, you are already in the drawing for the grand prize (you can though just for the fun of it if you want though).
