2 King Interviews

Posted: April 11, 2016, 09:12:19

Here are two interviews with King. The first one is fom Radio Times.

“Well,” he laughs, “I’m between [writing projects] now. I’m collaborating on a book with my son Owen,” he says of the younger of his sons (the other, who uses the pen name Joe Hill, is also an author; King and his wife of 45 years, Tabitha, another writer, also have a daughter, Naomi, a church minister). “The book goes back and forth. We’re almost done with it, and I’m not sure what I’m going to do next.

The second one is from The Telegraph.

“You know,” begins the engagingly enthusiastic author, “they say there was a time in the 19th century when 200 people drowned in Baltimore because they crowded a pier, and the pier collapsed. They were waiting for the ship that had the last instalment of one of Dickens’s novels. Now that’s dedication!” he hoots. “You see the same sort of excitement when Breaking Bad or The Sopranos ends. To viewers those people [in the shows] are their friends.”

Here are descriptions of each episode of 11.22.63.

Part 1

Premieres Presidents Day, February 15

Jake Epping (James Franco) is burned out and lost. His ex-wife has moved on, his students are
always distracted, and his novel went nowhere. Then one of his dearest friends, Al Templeton
(Chris Cooper), shows him the “rabbit hole,” a secret time portal that leads back to 1960. Al asks
Jake to head back to the past and create a better world by stopping the Kennedy assassination.
Jake heads down the rabbit hole to begin his mission - but finds that changing the past is far more
dangerous than he ever would have dreamed.

Part 2

Monday, February 22

Thrown by the enormity of his goal, Jake decides the one thing he can do to make a real difference is save the family of his friend Harry Dunning (Leon Rippy). Harry’s family was murdered in a small Kentucky town by Harry’s out-of-control father, Frank (Josh Duhamel). But does Jake have what it takes to kill a man - and what are the consequences of violence, even against someone as dangerous as Frank?

Part 3

Monday, February 29

Jake finds an unlikely ally in his quest in local drifter Bill Turcotte (George MacKay). He gets a
teaching job in a small town near Dallas and discovers romantic sparks with school librarian
Sadie Dunhill (Sarah Gadon). Jake constructs a double life - spying at night on Lee Harvey
Oswald (Daniel Webber) as the potential assassin within Jake builds. Trailing Oswald takes Jake
into the dark side of Dallas, where he realizes Oswald may not be the only threat Kennedy will
have to face.

Part 4

Monday, March 7

Jake and Bill’s partnership starts to struggle as they discover more secrets surrounding the unpredictable Lee Harvey Oswald. The conspiracy involving Oswald deepens, while romance blooms for Jake and Sadie. But by becoming involved with an innocent bystander, has Jake placed his new love in danger?

Part 5

Monday, March 14

Everything begins to fall apart as Jake struggles to live two lives: teacher and time traveler. When
Sadie’s life is threatened, Jake has to make a terrible choice, leaving Bill to his own devices. Lee Harvey Oswald takes steps that will lead him into a date with destiny.

Part 6

Monday, March 21

It’s October 1962, and the gathering storm of threats in Dallas continues to build. Jake must take drastic action to establish the full dimensions of the threat to Kennedy. And amidst it all, he’s hit with an unexpected death and a bitter betrayal from one of those closest to him.

Part 7

Monday, March 28

The end is near, and Jake is not up to the task. Sadie scrambles to pick up the pieces, but no one
knows the mission as well as Jake. Kennedy and the assassin are on a collision path - but has Jake
changed things enough in the past to alter the course of events? e days are counting down as
11.22.63 draws near.

Part 8

Monday, April 4

The past pulls out every weapon it has to keep Jake from reaching Dealey Plaza in time to save
Kennedy. If he fails, it could mean death for Jake or others close to him - and if he succeeds, it
could create a world in which he loses everything he’s ever known. What is the cost of doing the
right thing?

What can we expect in 2016?

Posted: December 21, 2015, 11:30:05

2016 is almost here and I think it’s time to see what we have to look forward to.

When it comes to books we have the third and last book in the series about Bill Hodges, End of Watch coming on June 7. Besides that we don’t know about any new books. King has released about two books a year for a while so there might be another one we don’t know about it yet.

When it comes to TV and movies we know that starting February 15 and eight weeks we’ll get to see if Jake Epping saves JFK in the Hulu TV version of 11/22/63. Besides that nothing has been confirmed but my guess is that Cell will be released during 2016. There is a date for the UK release but the studio hasn’t confirmed it yet.

And that is what we know so far. The remake of IT might be ready but they need to hurry if they want to get it out in 2016. Same goes for The Stand.

But while it looks like a “light” King Year there will probably be more things released in 2016, we just don’t know about it yet. I’d also like to remind you that Joe Hill (King’s son) will release his new book The Fireman in May and even though that’s not a Stephen King book I know I will check that one out.

What else are you looking for in 2016?

Sarah Gadon will star in 11/22/63, based on the 2011 bestseller from Stephen King about Jake Epping (Franco), an unassuming divorced English teacher who stumbles upon a time portal that leads to 9/9/1958 and goes on a quest to try and prevent the assassination of John F. Kennedy. But his mission is threatened by Lee Harvey Oswald, his falling in love and a past that doesn’t want to be changed. Gadon plays the statuesque, smart and outspoken Sadie, a librarian at the Texas school Jake works at.

11/22/63 Goes To Hulu

Posted: September 22, 2014, 23:12:07

11/22/63 will be done as a nine-hour event at Hulu.

The streaming service has handed out a straight-to-series order for 11/22/63, a nine-hour event series from J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot Productions and based on Stephen King's 2011 novel, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Bridget Carpenter (Friday Night Lights, Parenthood, The Red Road) will pen the script and exec produce the drama alongside King and Bad Robot's Bryan Burk. Bad Robot's Kathy Lingg will co-exec produce and Athena Wickham will produce. The drama hails from Warner Bros. Television, where Abrams' Bad Robot is under an overall deal. 11/22/63 marks the first collaboration for Abrams with Hulu, which will be the stateside home for the series. Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Distribution will distribute the series globally.

The project will be designed as a stand-alone story based on King’s novel. But if the show is successful, we’re told the opportunity exists to do additional seasons based on the same format. No release date has been determined.

Jonathan Demme exits 11/22/63

Posted: December 7, 2012, 10:34:24

"That's off the table," he told The Playlist.

"This is a big book, with lots in it. And I loved certain parts of the book for the film more than Stephen did.

"We're friends, and I had a lot of fun working on the script, but we were too apart on what we felt should be and what should be out of the script.

"I had an option and I let it go. But I hope it's moving forward, I really want to see that movie."

Jonathan Demme speaks 11/22/63

Posted: January 23, 2012, 23:34:46

Jonathan Demme recently spoke to MTV about his adaptation of King's 11/22/63.

"I'm adapting Stephen King's book," Demme told MTV News in Park City, UT over the weekend, where he was promoting the Slamdance debut of his "Neil Young Journeys" documentary. "I'm on the screenplay for it right now."

"It's a time travel story," he said of the plot. "Somebody from the 20th century gets a window back to the past and they go back with the goal of trying to prevent the assassination of JFK. It's an extraordinary thriller. It's a great love story, also. It's a fabulous book."

Demme doesn't have a time-table on when the movie might start shooting — "First I have to get the script finished," he said, "and it's going really well" — but he did say that he feels more than a little bit privileged to be working with King after working with another American icon in Young.

"Sitting here with Neil Young, and working with Stephen King — these are two great American storytellers who use different mediums," he said.
