Could it be Mr. Mercedes King is describing in this clip (from the 7:55 mark to the 15:31 mark)?

Thanks to Lou Sytsma

2 new books confirmed for 2014!

On the official Stephen King message board the moderator has confirmed that two new books will be released next year.

There will be two fiction books out next year but Hall Monitor has it right, we're not quite there yet in releasing official info on those other than the titles, which Stephen has mentioned when he was on his book tour for Doctor Sleep. The titles are Mr. Mercedes and Revival.

The moderator also confirmed that King will NOT do any book tours during 2014.

He's taking 2014 off--no book tours. There will be two books out next year--he's already written them--but he won't be doing book tours for them.

Has Mr. Mercedes & Revival gotten a release date?

On a question over at Stephen King’s message board about if King has finished editing Mr. Mercedes or completed the first draft of Revival the moderator gave the following answer:

He's waiting for the editors to do their thing. Release dates have been set but I don't think I'm at liberty to give that information out yet

So, both books seems to have a release date set. Do we dare to hope for 2014?

Mister Mercedes too creepy?

Mister Mercedes is mentioned in an article about King and Doctor Sleep in USAToday.

Next for King is a non-supernatural suspense novel, Mister Mercedes, about a deranged terrorist with a bomb. He says he began it before the Boston Marathon bombing, but it's "too creepily close for comfort."

Length of Mr. Mercedes

New info about Mr. Mercedes from the moderator of King's board.

It's typical length of a crime genre novel, but would be more of a smaller length novel for Stephen. This is only the first draft, though, so it's too early to post anything about exact page numbers.

Two new books finished?

Looks like King has finished a first draft of Mr. Mercedes. The moderator posted the following about the book on the official message board:

Finished it last night--was a real page-turner for me. Am hoping not much gets changed in the edits.

She also posted that…

Then I won't mention that I'm thinking about starting Revival next.

Looks like both Mr. Mercedes and Revival are finished. In first drafts at least…

Mister Mercedes is more or less done

Here is the full interview from Parade. One thing that cought my eye is this:

He continues to write accessible stories at a remarkable rate: A sequel to The Shining, titled Doctor Sleep, will be published in September, and he has “more or less” completed his first hard-boiled detective tale, Mister Mercedes. A series based on his 2009 novel Under the Dome will air on CBS later this summer, and his musical-theater collaboration with John Mellencamp, Ghost Brothers of Darkland County, will begin what King terms a “road show tour” of American cities in the fall.
