The Stephen King Podcast Needs You!
Posted: February 28, 2017, 20:41:43
As most of you know nothing in this world is free. Not even running a podcast. It costs money to host and run a podcast and because of that we would like to ask those of you out there that enjoy listening to us talk for about 90 minutes a couple of times a month to help out.
The last months we have had over 5,000 downloads of each episode and if even a fifth of all of those who downloaded the episodes donate $1 each we would have money to cover the costs for quite some time. And I mean what do you really get for $1? Why not spend it on something you enjoy?
But please note that if no one donate we'll still keep doing the pod. We will still keep talking for about 90 minutes a couple of times a month. However, if you DO donate we will mention you in our podcast as a supporter of the show. Unless you want to be anonymous, then that’s OK as well.
Thank you in advance for your support and if you want to help out, just click on the link and enter an amount.

Ep 50: Beahm Serves Fans A King Companion
Posted: October 13, 2015, 00:47:55
With your hosts - longtime Constant Readers - Hans Lilja of Lilja's Library and podcaster & writer - Lou W. Sytsma.
This is it! Our milestone - 50th episode of The Stephen King Podcast!
As your co-hosts Hans Lilja & Lou Sytsma - we want to thank our Constant Listeners for following along with us on our Stephen King Podcasting path.
We wanted to make our 50th episode a special one and to do that we are honored to present a episode long interview with one of the - in his words - old guard Stephen King Chroniclers.
It's been 20 years since George Beahm updated his Stephen King Companion and a lot of water has passed under the bridge since 1995. George has updated his book and made more accessible than ever before. He'll talk about how the book is for the fans because it is not only about King and his works but also how those works impacted so many lives and how they in turn enriched the Stephen King fan community.
We asked for fan questions and you responded! Thanks to everyone who sent in questions. So listen and see if your question made the podcast.
But that's not all. If you sent in a question you really want to listen to this podcast because there's a CONTEST!
If you hear your question on the podcast, George Beahm proves his generosity not only in his interview on the podcast but to those lucky fans because.......
So listen to the podcast, listen for your question, and if you hear it then listen to Hans on how to claim it!

What Do You Want To Hear In The Next Pod?
Posted: February 10, 2015, 10:43:12First: Let me apologize that we haven’t delivered the podcast about Maximum Overdrive. I have had huge problems with my Internet provider that if I were to about would have to BiP out a lot of the words if you know what I mean.
Second: The Maximum Overdrive pod will have to wait due to scheduling problems but we’ll get to it eventually.
Third: As a comfort (and because we are a bit low in ideas) Lou and I have decided that you will get to decide what we’re going to talk about in the next pod. We will record on Sunday 22nd so it can’t be a thick book though but otherwise we are open to suggestions. Post them here on Lilja’s Library, on facebook or twitter and we’ll do the one or once that gets the most suggestions.

More details about the book:
SYNOPSIS
Few horror films in the history of television can boast the deadly seriousness, inspired casting, indelible images and lingering impact of Salem’s Lot. Tobe Hooper’s adaptation of Stephen King’s 1975 novel about vampires that infest a small Maine town was first broadcast in November 1979.
The three-hour film featured unforgettable performances by an array of stars — James Mason, David Soul, Lew Ayres, Bonnie Bedelia — along with one of the most truly terrifying monsters in the history of movies: the feral vampire Mr Barlow played by Reggie Nalder.
This book documents the gestation and production of the film. There are reminiscences from cast and crew, including new and exclusive interviews with Tobe Hooper, David Soul, cinematographer Jules Brenner and producer Richard Kobritz; dozens of images, including many never before published behind-the-scenes production stills; deleted scenes from the original teleplay; foreign posters and artwork inspired by the film; photographs of Ferndale, California, where the exteriors ofSalem’s Lot were filmed; and much, much more.

Welcome to Episode 31 of The Stephen King Podcast!
Consider this our back to school edition.
First up is a review of the novella and 1987 movie - Apt Pupil.

Here are some links Bryant provided:
"There is a petition online (http://www.petitionbuzz.com/petitions/carriepetition) to try and convince Sony to release an Extended Edition of the recent "Carrie" remake.
There is also a Facebook page for the movement (https://www.facebook.com/CarriePetition), which updates frequently with all sorts of cool stuff regarding what is known about the footage that was cut of of the final edit of the film."
As usual, we bring you the latest Stephen King News.

Ep. 28: Golden Years-Real Deal Or Fool's Gold?
Posted: February 18, 2014, 00:20:29
With your hosts Hans Lilja of Lilja's Library and Lou Sytsma.
Welcome to Episode 28 of The Stephen King Podcast!
As usual, we bring you the latest Stephen King News.
We also crack open the King Crate and dust off the curiousity that was the short lived 1991 TV series - Golden Years.
An original work, created for television, by Stephen King who penned most of the episodes. It concerns a 70 year old Harlan Williams - a nod to Harlan Ellison perhaps? - who begins to age backwards and glow green at times - among other oddities. Is Golden Years the real deal or Fool's Gold? Or a mix of both? Listen to what we have to say. (Note - this segment runs in full SPOILER mode so if you have not seen the series as of yet and plan to do so, you may want to save this for later listening.)
Oh and we also announce the Audio Widget Contest Winner....
The prize is from Cemetery Dance and is a horror anthology with a new short story from Stephen King - Summer Thunder.
You and find it at the CD store, here: "Turn Down The Lights"
Besides Stephen King it has a stellar line up of authors.
Table of Contents:
"Turn Down the Lights..." an introduction by Richard Chizmar
"Summer Thunder" by Stephen King
"Incarnadine" by Norman Partridge
"The Western Dead" by Jack Ketchum
"An Instant Eternity" by Brian James Freeman
"In the Room" by Bentley Little
"Flying Solo" by Ed Gorman
"The Outhouse" by Ronald Kelly
"Lookie Loo" by Steve Rasnic Tem
"Dollie" by Clive Barker
"The Collected Short Stories of Freddie Prothero" by Peter Straub
Afterword by Thomas F. Monteleone
So listen and find out if you won!!!!
Big thanks to Cemetery Dance for the prize.
We hope you enjoy this episode and, as usual, we want to hear from you.

Welcome to Episode 26 of The Stephen King Podcast! This time we hit the road.
This is a special episode focused solely on Stephen King's November 2013 European Tour with stops in France and Germany.
Through the wonders of the Internet we go truly international this time with reports from Jeremy Guerineau for the French leg of the tour and Hans was able to go to the German leg of the tour.
Jeremy is the web site moderator of the French Stephen King website - Club Stephen King
Here is a list of all the media for the King's French appearances:
Press conference (video in english)
Evening with King (video in english, not translated simultaneously). We can see that King is having fun as well as being impressed by the translator
Recap (in french) of all the french events as well as numerous pictures & videos/audios (mostly in french)
Pictures & videos from the signing event
Thanks Jeremy for your report and the links. It was great to meet you!

We want you to talk!
Posted: December 10, 2013, 08:48:24Those of you that has followed our podcast, The Stephen King Podcast know that we keep asking you to send in comments, questions, opinions or anything else you can think of through the voice widget we have. You probably also know that we don’t get many comments this way…
Well, now we’re going to try to motivate you (bribe if you want) to send us comments. Everyone who sends us a comment between December 10 and January 19 will be entered into a drawing where the winner gets a free copy of the trade edition of Turn Down the Lights from Cemetery Dance. This is at present time the only place where you can read King’s new short story Summer Thunder. How about that? A new King story for a few seconds of your time? Not bad if you ask me.
All you need to do is go to the podcast page, click on the “Send Voicemail” button to the right. Press the “Start recording” button, talk, press the “Stop” button, listen to what you said (or skip it) and then send. Don’t forget to enter your email and name so we can contact you if you are the lucky winner. Oh, your computer needs a mic but today most computers do so that’s probably not a problem.
We also need you to speak English so that we understand what you say. You could speak Swedish and let me translate it for Lou and our other listeners if you prefer that. You could even speak Danish and Norwegian too if you speak slow…but that’s it. No other language will be allowed for the simple reason that we won’t understand what you say.
We look forward to hearing from you!

Episode 21: Ghost Brothers Trapped Under The Dome
With your host Hans Lilja of Lilja's Library and Lou Sytsma.
Big changes for our 21st podcast!
New podcast host and a new name for the podcast. Formerly known as The Lilja & Lou Podcast we decided to make the name more reflective of what it is really about - Stephen King. So the podcast will be known as The Stephen King Podcast going forward. Simple. Direct. And hopefully it will become more visible to Stephen King fans everywhere.
Also, since this host is more expencive then the previous one we'd like to ask anyone who can and feel they want to help us out to do so. We will still continue doing the podcast even if we get no donations but it would certainly make both our lives a bit easier if we do.
We have set up a PayPal account for this purpose so anyone who has a $ (or a few) that you feel you can spare, we’d really appreciate it. Send your donations to LiljaLouPodcast@gmail.com.
This episode features in depths reviews of the Stephen King / John Coguar Mellencamp collaboration - The Ghost Brothers of Darkland County.
We also review the first ten episodes of the hit CBS summer TV series Under The Dome based on the King book of the same name.
We hope you will all enjoy this episode and as usual we want to hear from you, good or bad, we want it all!

Podcast update
Posted: August 15, 2013, 10:29:18
Episode 21 of The Lilja & Lou Podcast is about to be released in a week or two. We apologize that it has taken a bit longer this time but with summer and all it couldn’t be helped. Also, we have gotten a new host for the podcast. The one we have been using earlier had restrictions that would have meant that older episodes would have had to go to give space for newer. Something we didn’t want to happen. So, we will have a new podcast host for new and old episodes when episode 21 goes live. That’s the good news.
The bad news is that it costs money. So, if anyone of you out there who enjoys the podcast wants to help us out with the hosting of the podcast you are most welcome. We will still continue doing the podcast even if we get no donations but it would certainly make both our lives a bit easier if we did.
We have set up a PayPal account for this purpose so anyone who has a $ (or a few) that you feel you can spare, we’d really appreciate it. Send your donations to LiljaLouPodcast@gmail.com.
Thanks!
